• discovering a career
The Essentials
To increase your chances of finding work experience or employment quickly, we advise you to :
• Write your CV and cover letter; you should submit one CV and one cover letter per business. If you are not familiar with CV writing, HANDISUP offers training on how to create these documents.
• Become familiar with the businesses with which you wish to work as well as those who recruit. You should explore the websites of each business as well as certain specialized sites.
Obtain Disabled Workers' Recognition
The Disabled Workers' Recognition allows you to benefit from assistance concerning employment research as well as certain other specific measures.
The businesses with which you will perform your work experience, your summer job, your internship, etc, will sometimes ask you for this document before considering you in the right of the employment obligation of 6%.
To attain this document, you must submit a file to your MDPH. Handisup can help you with this process.
If you are already bearer of your disability card or benefit from AAH, it is not necessary to ask the RQTH, these other documents are acceptable to be considered in the employment obligation of 6%.
Send out your application
Handisup can connect you with their business partners as well as wtih the over 60 different businesses with which former students have completed work experience, summer jobs, internships, etc.
We strongly advise that you partake in the “Business Meet and Greet” which is organized by Handisup each October. (link) You can also meet businesses directly.
On this website, you can access a list of business's websites with whom you can submit your application.
Finally, we advise that you consult our “employment” section in order to become familiar with your rights as well as the businesses obligations in the private sector. Here you will also find information regarding employment administration for people with disabilities.
